A unique heirloom eating experience (thoughts on heirloom below). We were asked to raise some European broiler genetics by an international poultry company this summer. These are a brown feathered, slow-growing European meat bird that produces a different meat birds that makes an EXCELLENT roast chicken. We've noticed less breast meat, more thigh, & the meat has a more delicate texture. The longer growing time means a richer, more developed flavor & a little higher cost to make up all the extra days tending & moving these birds on pasture.
